“Celebrate the special contribution of women to Australia's heritage, especially that of Molly Clark of Old Andado Station who established the museum.”
The National Pioneer Women’s Hall of Fame (NPWHF) explores the distinctive history and contributions of Australian women. It is one of only two national women’s museums in Australia. We are located in the Old Alice Springs Gaol, and with the same entry ticket, visitors can also discover the history and stories of the gaol and its heritage-listed buildings.
Visitors can learn about early pioneering women in Central Australia, women who made great strides and became ‘first’ in fields such as politics, sport, science and the arts, and the history of the gaol, the campaign that saved it, and the effect of the gaol on the Alice Springs community.
