“Appreciate the vastness of the Katherine region through works by artists from an area of 380,000 square kilometres, and meet some artists at work.”
Call in at Mimi Aboriginal Arts and Crafts for a new appreciation of the vastness of the Katherine region, as seen in the works of artists that come from a surrounding area of 380,000 square kilometres. The art gallery displays many different art styles and provides a supportive workplace for artists, who are often in residence interacting and telling visitors their stories. Mimi is Aboriginal owned and operated. As well as displaying and selling art it provides resources, training and encouragement to emerging artists. When you purchase artworks from Mimi Aboriginal Arts and Crafts, more than 50 per cent of the sale goes back to the artists. The remaining proceeds fund the running of the art centre and provide customers with an ethical way to purchase indigenous artwork. The gallery is open 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Out of hours by appointment only.
