“A total thigh burner to stunning views.”
Mount Sorrow had us from this aerial shot, where it looks like a giant tadpole is trying to swim up river from the beach. Or stingray. Maybe it’s the image of what your feet look like after you get to the top of Mount Sorrow, which will be in a sorry state if you don’t wear boots. This strenuous 6km trek takes you through the dense Daintree jungle where you get fantastic panoramic views of the Cape Tribulation Coast. The track begins off gently enough through lowland rainforest before gradually getting steeper. Tree roots cover some of the steep sections so be prepared for a tough scramble. From the top of the mountain, at 680 metres, you’ll be able to see Snapper Island and the shadows that make up the Great Barrier Reef. To get to the start of the walk, park at the Kulki day use area just north of Cape Tribulation and walk 150 metres up the road to where the track begins opposite a gravel pull-off area. You need a good level of fitness for this and be prepared.
