“This park features a large salt lake and numerous saline flats with swamp paperbarks. Explore the area on foot or by 4WD and allow time to stop and appreciate the native wildlife.”
Calpatanna Waterhole Conservation Park is named after the Calpatanna Waterhole, an important water source for the traditional Aboriginal people of the area as well as the early European settlers. The park provides opportunities for bushwalking, nature study and self-sufficient camping.
The 3,644 hectare park provides a diverse variety of habitats, ideal for native wildlife. A quiet walk through the bushland may reveal sightings of mulga or Port Lincoln parrots which often feed on the ground or move to nearby mallee trees when disturbed.
