“The Bob Hawke Gallery is located in Bordertown South Australia, and stands as a museum to the former Prime Minister in the town in which he was born.”
As one of Australia’s most iconic Prime Ministers, the gallery welcomes those interested in learning more about the Prime Minister during their travels.
Visitors to the Bob Hawke Gallery will be able to view a diverse collection of photographs, newspaper clippings, cartoons, paintings and memorabilia related to Bob Hawke. Come and see a painting of Bob that was a finalist in the Archibald Prize, painted by artist Michael Henwood.
As the birth place of Bob Hawke, Bordertown has a unique reputation and is proud to continue to inform visitors to this small town of its importance to a national icon. Bob Hawke was born in Bordertown in 1929 and lived here until 1939, when Bob’s family moved to Perth in Western Australia.
You will recognise the gallery by the bronze bust that welcomes visitors out the front, so come and take a photo next to one of Australia’s most beloved Prime Ministers.
Bordertown is located just 2 hours north of Mount Gambier. So go for a drive and enjoy the beautiful scenery that Mount Gambier has to offer!
