When completed in 1889, it was the colony's most daring, technologically innovative and controversial building, and it dominated the Sydney skyline for almost a century. The Sydney Town Hall is open during Council’s business hours, Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm. Due to the building’s event schedule, access to the different areas of the building is often restricted to because of this. For people wishing to view the venues or specific areas of the building, it is recommended that you join a scheduled tour of the building
