“Grand Canyon of the East!”
Letchworth State Park, with some of the most magnificent scenery in the United States, comprises 14,350 acres along the Genesee River. Within the park, the river roars over three major waterfalls, one of which is 107 feet high. The cliffs, created by the river's path over thousands of years, approach 600 feet. A multi-faceted park, Letchworth offers opportunities for a wide variety of interests. Millions of years of geological history can be observed in the rock formations exposed by erosion. The region's rich heritage of the Seneca Indians is well-documented in the park with displays, a restored Seneca Council House and the grave of Mary Jemison. Cabins and camping sites are popular at Letchworth Park, and for those who prefer accommodations within the park without "roughing it," there is the Pinewood Lodge, with light housekeeping units, the Stone House, Caroline's Cottage, or a country inn within the park, the Glen Iris Inn, with guest rooms and fine dining. Swimming pools, fishing areas, hiking trails, hot air ballooning, whitewater rafting and canoeing by permit are just some of the additional attractions at Letchworth. A full schedule of events is offered each year within the park. They range from festivals to lectures and guided walks, to the noted Fall Arts and Crafts Sale. Letchworth State Park is the largest and most diverse park of nine state facilities in the Genesee State Park and Recreation Region, one of eleven park regions administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. A visit to Letchworth Country puts you in the heart of three of New York State's most diversified vacation regions, Finger Lakes, Niagara Frontier and Chautauqua-Allegheny. From this centrally-located point, a visitor can take advantage of the best the regions have to offer. Consider making Letchworth Country home base for a "Discover Western New York" vacation. After exploring the natural beauty and historic attractions in Letchworth Country, a ride of about two hours or less will take you to some of the most popular vacation attractions in New York. There are winery tours, the Corning Glass Works, sailing on the Finger Lakes, the Eastman House, Sonnenberg Gardens, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Niagara Falls, and the historic Erie Canal. And there is shopping, from roadside markets and small-town Main Streets to outlet malls that will knock your socks off. And after your "day trip," take a different route back to Letchworth Country and relax in the natural beauty. Letchworth Country offers accommodations from cabins and camping in public parks to country inns to modern motels, the choice is yours. We're the heart of the Western New York-Finger Lakes vacation lands. Letchworth, one of the most beautiful public parks in New York, is in the heart of a region which has much to offer for day -trippers or vacationers looking for natural attractions, history, shopping and entertainment.

I could spend a week here!! But alas we got a couple of hours. We came in thru the Portageville gate and stopped at the bridge viewing right away. Great view of the bridge and you can hear the falls. We headed to the main parking area and took the short walk to the falls then followed the path to middle falls. All up the stop was around 40 mins. We even grabbed ice cream at the end of the walk. Last stop, Inspiration Point. Gorgeous view and took some snaps. Left through the Castile gate.
Would go back in a heartbeat and spend more time exploring. Gorgeous and well maintained park.
A wonderful experience!! Staying at the cabins of Letchworth State Park was great. The car park is next to the park and it is easy to find the place.
The park is gorgeous and the cabins were very clean and well cared. The bathrooms are brand new and in awesome condition.
The views are amazing and the nature just welcomes you to visit.!Enjoy.
Beautiful place. Although we did it on our way to another location. We did not do much hiking. We saw a lot of it from look out points and not much hiking, and still seemed to see quite a bit.
Just stopped there today on our way back to NYC from Toronto. It was well worth the trip! What a beautiful big park!
absolutely beautiful park....upper, middle and lower falls all equally outstanding....
Well worth the trip!
I have been here too...great place for picnics, or just relaxing...so pretty!!! It will take your breath away.
I have been here and it is so beautiful even in the summer months...My husband and I traveled there from Erie, Pa and it was only a 3 hr ride from us... very enjoyable
This amazing place is only 6 hours from New York City, and an hour outside of Buffalo!
Site 809 has a 4” side-to-side slope. Fortunately, we carry enough blocks to put under the wheels to make the trailer level. It seems that the sites around us are more un-level than the rest of the campground. However, the good news is that we didn’t have any close neighbors because the sites were empty. Hindsight, we wished we would have stayed in the backside of the 100 loop which overlooks the gorge.
