“Only road that traverses Glacier NP crossing the Continental Divide”
Going-to-the-Sun Road is an engineering marvel that spans 50 miles through the park's wild interior, winding around mountainsides with some of the best sights in northwest Montana. There are three visitor centers located along Going-to-the-Sun Road: Apgar Visitor Center, Logan Pass Visitor Center, and St. Mary Visitor Center. All have restroom facilities, trip planning information, bookstores, drinking water, and exhibits.
Reviews
One of a kind Experience, it's best to take one of the tours so you don't miss the views. Not many places to pull over for photos. We highly recommend the RED Jammer tour, such an enjoyable experience I would do it again. Have to warn you if you are afraid of heights, let someone else do the driving because this is the true definition of Breathtaking Views.
Unfortunately, the road was closed due to an avalanche the previous week. There was no signage before the east gate indicating this. We are travelling late June, so this was unexpected. I would encourage a check online before travelling regardless of time of year (be smarter than we were, lol!).
A Must!!!
Breathtaking is the only way to describe this!
