They call this a resort but that is putting lipstick on a pig. The sites were dirt, not gravel or paved, leading to us track in dirt each time we entered our RV. The sites are not a bad size and there are wood fences to give you some privacy, but no real greenery between sites. The grounds are pretty with some territorial views, but for a “resort” there were zero amenities. No pool, no office store. In fact the office was hardly open the whole time we were there. I was a little freaked out that the 50 amp receptacles at each site have no breakers on the pedestals. I don’t like plugging in my rig to a hot outlet. The road in, Rt 245, if coming from the north (Rt 180) is a nightmare for anyone with a sizable rig. It took us easily 45 minutes to drive the 9 miles to the campground entrance, and we are 30’ towing a jeep. Bathrooms seemed clean. No wifi at the sites and our Verizon cellular did not work. We had to walk up to the “library”, a room with some shelves and books, in order to get any WiFi. But, as access to Kings Canyon or Sequoia NP it was the closest with FHU.

The staff were very friendly and the facilities (office, bathrooms etc.) were nice. They have a pond and boats but we came during the off season so we did not use them. There is not much going on around here in the fall and the roads were some of the worst we have ever seen. Be prepared for very narrow and constant “s” turns (I don’t think the yellow lines were ever straight!). We would not recommend coming here if you are just looking for a place to park. It took us almost an hour to get to the entrance of Kings NP (ado on very windy roads). I suggest looking along 190 if you want access to the parks.
As far as the sites. They are just gravel parking pads with a fence in between you and your neighbor. They are big enough but not much room outside of our slides and awning. There were also about 5 Ferrell cats crawling all over our rig. It kept the mice down but was a bit unnerving early in the morning when I thought someone was coming up our steps.

This peaceful and quiet campground is the perfect place to reconnect with nature. Our drive took us north on CA-245 and there were some serious twists and turns to negotiate. Be careful and take your time. The manager is named Andrea and she is the nicest campground employee that we have met in over 2 years of full-time RVing! She is absolutely wonderful over the phone and we had many interesting conversations during our 1 week stay. Andrea has visited over 100 countries during her lifetime and Asia is her specialty. She also has an absolute wealth of information about the local area. We carefully squeezed our 28 foot class A RV into full hookup site #5 as it has excellent tree shade. I say "squeezed" because there is a large tree in front of the site. It was very comfortable. There is a washer and dryer that is free for guests to use. They also have complimentary bikes available. Wow! The campground also a fantastic guest shop room with free wifi and lots of DVDs. The wifi isn't blazingly fast but it's good enough for checking email, etc. My AT&T phone had zero reception but my wife's Verizon phone had 3 bars. We were able to program 2 over the air TV channels (CBS and Fox.) The private restrooms/showers were clean and well-maintained. Recycling is available. Thanks Andrea for a great experience!

We stayed here for a week in mid may. The campsite has recently been expanded to more than 30 sites. Full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service. The camp host Chris is very friendly and accommodating. The offer free use of laundry and have a great library of DVD's and books that you can check out on the honor system. Connectivity for Verizon only but they do offer free WiFi in the library. The roads to the camp are a bit challenging for a big rig, ours is 40', but well worth it once you arrive.
Great location to visit both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.

We stayed here mid June, and it was very dry. At first we were thrilled that our three dogs could run off leash, but soon realized that the grounds were covered with foxtails, both growing and cut. For those not familiar with these problematic weeds, please research their dangers to dogs. The head of the weed can enter ears, eyes, mouths, rears and sexual parts, where they behave as fish hooks, barbs that go in, but cannot come out. Our dogs have had three earlier surgeries to remove them from feet and ears. So we spent many panicked hours picking them out of our dogs’ coats, bed, carpets. Later at home we read about how this area in California, Kings County, has such a problem with these weeds.
For those without dogs, the site is very nice. People with pets…think twice about staying here.

We are here on day one and the setting is absolutely stunning. If you want to get away from the big city this is it. Close to Sequoia/ Kings Canyon National Park. The sites are fenced between each site and several end sites are wide open to incredible views. If you are planning a larger group event this is it. The park is huge with plenty of room for kids to roam around.
The roads are winding getting here but the western Sierras are just full of narrow winding roads. Just drive carefully. It is worth the drive!!

We are heading in to a 6-day stay here. If you want peaceful nature surrounding you this is the place. The star filled evenings are spectacular. The sites are spacious with well built hookups.
The greatest concern is accessing the park. We drove hundreds of miles in every direction. With a trailer in-tow or moving your motor home use CA180 to 245 south. The park entrance is less than 10 miles. As people said the roads are winding. DO NOT access CA245 from the Woodlake. The road is over 20 miles from camp and it is very winding and difficult with a big rig.
This place would be great for a group gathering or reunion. Plenty of different sites to choose from as well as large common areas to gather.
Have fun planning your next gathering here or just planning some quiet time.

First stay in formal campground - usually Boondocking in national forest. Host super friendly. First time using electrical hookup - all worked great. Water and dump station at site. Nice views and sunset. Challenging road 245 from Visalia - slow with lots of curves and narrow road but also very scenic.

The campground was nice! Getting to kings canyon and to sequoia was not so great, the roads are the most windy and car sickness roads I have ever seen. I don’t know if there are any campgrounds that would be closer or better regarding travel but just beware!
