“Historic Village”
Boys Town was opened as a home for abused and underprivileged boys in December 1917 by Roman Catholic priest Edward Flanagan. It set new standards for juvenile care and is now a leader in the field of juvenile rehabilitation. In 1938, a movie was made chronicling the founding of Boys Town, featuring Spencer Tracy as Father Edward Flanagan. The site was put on the National Register of Historical Places in 1985. Boys Town offers tours in exchange for donations.
