The Center is home to the Discover Depot, where a wealth of information awaits on the area's flora and fauna, the park and history.

Due to the proximity to Portland, Stub Stewart State Park is very popular. This was our second time here. We picked the East loop because it seems to be a little more spaced out.
I find it a little weird that they don't have garbage in the campground loops, but otherwise it's a lovely campground with hiking and biking trails.
The cell phone/data reception is great with both Verizon & AT&T.

We come here sometimes from Portland just to work, hike, and bike ride from a different location. All sites are full hookup and there are trails galore! The Banks-Vernonia trail is fabulous for bike riding and walking, and there are forested trails for miles. They've got mountain bike trails and horse trails as well. We get great AT&T cell service here as well.

Nice wooded park with great walking trails. Level, gravel spots with a lot of room, and a nice amount of room between sites.

We enjoyed a fantastic weekend at Stub Stewart over the Summer Solstice weekend 2014. We were treated to a night of stargazing sponsored by OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science & Industry) who brought out several telescopes focused on the jupiter, saturn and mars. They apparently do this several times during the summer as the stargazing in the day use area is so phenomenal.
There is a fantastic Disc Golf course, miles of hiking and biking trails. The off-leash dog park was a hit with our pups too!
Our site felt spacious and private. The park hosts were very friendly and volunteered to come directly to our site for the Junior Ranger program.
The only element that would give this park a 5 for us would be a water source (river, lake, ocean) nearby. Otherwise it was a wonderful place to spend a family weekend.

L.L. Stub is a great place to stay for large, quiet sites surrounded by forests and trails.
The park is very well kept up with so many trails for hiking, biking, running and even disc golf that you need the map they give you! It's also dog-friendly with many places to walk your dog and many campers traveling with their pups. And we also found the park host ranger to be very friendly and helpful.
Depending on what you're looking to do, the one downside is that it can feel a little too quiet and isolated. It was packed on the weekend but pretty empty during the week. And the drive to Portland takes 45-60 minutes so it's not the best place to stay if you're planning to visit Portland regularly.
Overall though we were impressed with the quality of the park, sites and natural beauty of L.L. Stub and highly recommend it!

We visited L.L. Stub Stewart State Park the first of June 2018. The State Park is well laid out in a typical Oregon wooded environment. There is a large fenced dog run at the day use area. We are always glad to see a fenced dog run for our Dane Maggie.
One thing we enjoyed the most were the hiking trails through the woods. Very secluded and peaceful walks with our dog. Spotted a deer a time or two as well which is always neat.
The campground is spacious with sites large enough to comfortably fit a semi-truck RV hauler and fifth wheel., we actually saw one come into the park. :) Camp hosts were very friendly and worked hard to keep the grass cut and the campground in tip top shape.
Cell coverage was good and our Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile service all worked really well in the campground.
Although in-land we drove about an hour to get to Canon Beach and Ecola State Park on the Oregon Coast which was simply breathtaking.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park when in the area next time.

I said I would camp here again, but NOT in the same site. Unless you enjoy feeling like you are parked in a fishbowl surrounded by dead grass, avoid the sites in the middle of the loop! In particular, sites 67 and those surrounding it are not appealing. All the positive reviews and pics of wooded sites did not prepare me for the barren wasteland that we called home for 6 nights. The sites on the edge with some trees did look nice, but still didn't have that wooded feel I would expect from an Oregon state park.
On the plus side, full hook-ups for only $32/night is a really good value, the staff was fantastic, and the trails in and around the park top notch. I guess the moral of the story is that even the nicest campgrounds have some sites that are best to avoid.

Chose this park for its proximity to wineries in the Tualatin valley. Very easy access. All but a few sites are full hookup. Even water is on in the winter as Oregon State parks heats their spigots. All sites nice pea gravel and perfectly level. Most are back in but no issues with overhanging branches or tight corners. We stayed in Dairy creek east loop which is wooded. West loop, closed in winter, is totally open field. Miles of hiking and biking trails. Very large State Park, beautifully maintained as is typically for Oregon.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds, and that's saying a lot because Oregon has some very good state and city campgrounds. This was our 2nd visit as we passed through 4 years ago and were determined to make it back for a longer stay.
We stayed in the West area and had plenty of room for our 45ft. The one-way loop roads are in perfect condition. The site has a large square area next to the RV with fire ring and table. 50A hookups worked fine. We are surrounded by trees and the large space between sites is filled with trees and shrubs.
The AT&T/Verizon signal is excellent, I stayed on AT&T which has a tower 3 miles away and gave a rock-solid stable signal the whole time.
The dogs loved it! There are chipmunks and, on several occasions, deer all around the RV. The walks are on excellent condition trails and well documented. We walked the 200 yds to the trails most days and loved the wooded walks.

Clean and well maintained campground with a lot of activities available during the summer season. The park rangers are all very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Sites are clean and level. We stayed in the west loop to have more of the trees and shade. There are plenty of hikes from both camp sites and range in ability. It was an easy drive into Portland to see the city.
