“take me out to the ball game!”
The Cincinnati Reds beloved Crosley Field was their home from 1912-1970. Bases and a home plate have been placed on the driveway to mark where they were when the field was still standing. Walk west on the north side of Findlay Street from Findlay & Western and cross Dalton Street. Now, go to the first driveway on your right. Turn into this driveway and walk between the buildings and you are there. Look out toward Clifton Hill (NE). Since our original trip down to the old site, people in the know have painted home plate on the driveway, right where it was once placed.Continue walking forward (N) until you find this spot. Look right (E) and you are looking at wNow that was so much fun, let's go to the scoreboard and look back. Walk across the parking lot (NE) toward the corner of Dalton & York Streets. Cross Dalton and stand in front of Berning Printing. You are now standing in front of where the scoreboard once stood. Look back (SW) across Dalton...at would have been the right-center field wall and the north corner of the bleachers, between the scoreboard and the right field corner.
Reviews
I've updated the geocoordinates to be more accurate, and the written instructions were good, too. I parked in the City Gospel Mission parking lot. There's a little brick wall memorial with an info plaque to Crosley Field, and then behind the building, down the alley to the right, the location of home plate is painted onto the ground. The memorial thing was unexpected and really cool, but the home plate location is just paint on the ground. I personally love weird photo ops like this!
