Rocking 7 Ranch is a historic 160 acre property nestled in the Diablo Mountain range of Southern Monterey County. Owned and operated by 8th generation rancher and local history expert Howard Strohn and his wife Minnie. The homestead dates back more than 120 years and houses one of Monterey’s largest local history libraries and an impressive collection of original artefacts. The Ranch offers a secluded yet well appointed campsite with facilities including BBQ pit, tables, outdoor shower, work top and sink with running water and extensive views of the countryside. Full electrical hookups are available. In the comfortable homestead we offer Bed and Breakfast facilities and a vast array of information on Monterey County’s fascinating history. Guests also have access to traditional horseshoe pits, basketball hoop and a badminton court. Other activities available include; wildlife viewing, hiking through local wildflower meadows, rock and fossil hunting and enjoying the shade of an ancient Oak tree. Amongst the free range animals we have on the ranch include; Alpaca, Peacocks, a herd of African Pygmy Goats, Indian Runner Ducks, Burros, Chickens, Turkeys, Guinea Fowl, Pheasants, Geese and Horses.
