“Among the pine woods”
The campground stretches along Bismarck Lake in pine woods with grassy understory. Most sites are located above the lake and have a limited view of it. The spur at one end stretches down the hill with campsites tucked in among some Aspen and lots of Ponderosa pine. There is ample shade and fair to good privacy between campsites. Bismarck Lake appears to be good for canoeing. Possible day trips are Jewel Cave National Monument, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Custer State Park, Scenic Needles Highway, Harney Peak, the State Game Loop, Crazy Horse Monument and Wind Cave National Park.
