On our way to NC we decided to make a detour to Amicalola Fall. We are so glad that we did. The waterfall is amazing just as it shows in the picture. Lots of hiking possibilities and lots of picnic areas. We will definitely stop by again.
Wonderful, small, quiet campground at the top of Amicalola Falls. The drive up to the top is a little nerve-wracking - it’s a 25% grade. The falls are beautiful & hiking is plentiful. This is the jump off point for many people hiking The Appalachian Trail. There are bathrooms with laundry facilities - we didn’t use them so I’m not sure how great they were. All in all a fantastic experience & we will most certainly be back!

Stayed in Dec 2019. Well maintained, wooded, mountainous campground with water, 20/30/50 amp electric, dump station. Friendly helpful staff. VERY STEEP 25% grade for 1 mile from visitor center to campground area. One of my favorites after one visit.

Very beautiful.
Sites are really nice. Only negative is they could be more level.
The 25% grade to get from the office to the campsites is really intimidating but doable.

We had a nice fairly level gravel site. The sites are fairly close together . They had decent wifi. There was a fairly close walk to several hikes to the top of the waterfall. Nice clean bathrooms

The site was nice, but hard to back into due to the poor condition of the pavement and washed-out grading of the approach to the pad. Almost got my truck stuck just driving the camper around to the spot, there was a big pothole full of gravel right at a sharp 90 degree turn that also happened to be the steepest part of the campground road.
When they say the road up to the campground is steep, they mean it's STEEEEEEEP. There were a couple of times I was convinced I wouldn't make it.
Road issues notwithstanding, the park is great. It's beautiful (as are most GA state parks), there's a great lodge on site with a restaurant with KILLER views, tons of great hiking, and the tallest cascading waterfall in Georgia. The elevation of the campground also meant that the temps were 10-15 degrees cooler than down in the valley. The WiFi was also pretty consistent park-wide if you're into that.
In summary, hiking hiking and more hiking, quiet, cool. Very poor pavement at the campground. Fix the pavement and grading issues and it will be almost perfect.

We live near here. It was a close to home trip to test out the new camper. This is a nice park. The waterfall is beautiful. There is not much in the way of shopping close by so make sure you pack what you need. Lots of hiking trails. We had to switch sites because of water issues. The sites with the walls are private but you just end up looking at a wall. Site 2 was better it was more open with a great view of the sky. Home Restaurant isn't too far and is very good.
