“excavated by a Colorado miner in the 1880s”
The Faris Caves were excavated by a Colorado miner in the 1880s. He lived in them briefly. They were later used as a spring house, storage room, generator room, and a school.
Reviews
Pretty far out of the way and a huge disappointment. There and two caves, both about the size of a bathroom or large closet. Nothing cool inside and no tunnels or anything worth looking at. Save yourself the gas and pick a different place to stop along your route :) But if you are being stubborn and want to go anyways, use Google maps if you can't find your way with roadtrippers. You park right by the cave and it's easy to find. We climbed the rock a little because we love bouldering, but it's REALLY dirty and sandy.
The caves are not easily accessed. It might be best to have someone familiar with the area to take you there.
Once I read this, decided not to try it.
