“i want to believe...”
Have you ever wondered what a real UFO looks like? Have you ever wondered if there is life on other planets? Judy Messoline of Hooper, Colorado, has.... Judy's favorite TV shows were "Sightings" & "The X-Files". After watching show after show, she realized she was hearing things like "Great Sand Dunes" and "San Luis Valley" on many episodes. With this in mind, Judy created the first ever UFO Watch Tower! Part campsite, part UFO enthusiast mecca, complete with healing vortexes, and alien rock garden..

Weird and kinda awesome. Wouldn't camp here, though - I've got to second the other reviewer, go down the road to the Sand Dunes Swimming Pool & RV Park! It's $10 for a campsite with a port-a-potty and no amenities here, while the Pool costs $20 for all the bells and whistles in great condition.
cool gifts - very strange place - I am not sure why anyone would camp here, though
Judy was a great host and had some fun UFO stories, my 8 and 4 year old enjoyed walking around. I am not sure I would camp there, but it was a great photo op stop. You are charged $5 per car load or $2 per person. Bring something along to leave "your energy" in the garden.
Don't forget to bring a special something to add to the alien rock garden.
My boyfriend and I were driving down Hwy 61 when we saw this fairly odd place. Having a lot of time, we decided to give it a quick view. There was nothing much to see, though. And the was no one there to collect our payment. So we just left money on the box located at the entrance. There was not much to see, just a bunch of strange stuff. I'm not sure if there are still people who choose to camp here. Just looks like a typical shabby tourist trap.
I initially posted we couldn’t find it, however as soon as I posted it we stumbled across it. It’s located on 17. $5 per car or $2 per person. Private property signs show if you arrived and take pictures you owe and to go to the tower to pay. From a distance it looks nifty.
Definitely a cool place to stop if you’re driving by. Cool stories/pics in the gift shop. People leave the craziest things in the garden. You can definitely feel some energy by the two vortex openings.
filled with a bunch of odd little things. Okay for a photo op but you are charged to go in. Not a very good campground (Go down the road to the Sand Dunes Swimming Pool & RV Park!)
Nothing really special about this camping spot. We were in town for a UFO conference and needed a cheap solution. This fit the bill. Even though the campground is not much to speak of, the UFO Watchtower is interesting. Kind of a hodgepodge of alien-inspired art on the grounds. The watchtower is not really that high off the ground. Even so, you have spectacular views of The Valley and even if you don't see any UFOs, chances are you'll see shooting stars and satellites.
Back to the campground. Sites are dirt/gravel, close to each other, not really level, and there are a few porto pottys. They kept them pretty clean. You're about 38min from the Great Sand Dunes NP, 5min from the Sand Dunes Swimming Pool, which is a hot spring fed pool and they also have an adults-only area in the greenhouse. 24min away from Alamosa, and 30min away from Crestone. So, even though the campground is lacking, it is in a convenient location.

The campsites were too close together for my liking. There were port-a-potties but not enough for the amount of people there, almost all the sites were occupied. There was also no running water. The watchtower was cool but nothing special.
