“a tranquil place where everyone is welcome”
The Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden draws inspiration from the couple’s journey through life and their commitment to share with others. It is an enduring gift for Kansas City that extends the legacy of a gracious couple and welcomes visitors to a vibrant landscape throughout the year. The Kauffmans’ world travels inspired the creation of a space comparable to parks throughout Europe. The garden features bronze sculptures by Tom Corbin among lush and colorful annual and perennial plantings, pruned foliage framed by stone walls, brick walkways and playful fountains. Open year-round through autumn’s crisp winds, winter’s quiet chill, the renewal of spring, and the warm summer sun, the Memorial Garden is the final resting place for Ewing and Muriel Kauffman. It provides a tranquil place where everyone is welcome and the Kauffman legacy continues to grow. Powell Gardens, in partnership with the Kauffman Foundation, manages and maintains the Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden. In addition to tending the perennial beds and many unique trees, the staff and volunteers change the annual plant displays at least four times a year.
