“The only rescue zoo in Virginia”
Luray Zoo is home to over 250 animals, and is the only true rescue zoo in Virginia! The zoo is privately owned and operated by Mark and Christine Kilby. Luray Zoo receives no government funding. All admission, gift shop sales, donations, outreach programs fees, and birthday parties fees goes directly to help support and care for all the animals at Luray Zoo. The Zoo receives animals that are retired zoo animals, unwanted pets, confiscations, and sadly occasionally abused animals. While you tour the 3+ acre facility the owners are always out and about caring for the animals, and are able to answer your questions! Mark and Christine love to educate the public about animals, to help people understand animals better, as well as to educate the importance of conservation of species, and the importance of proper and responsible pet keeping. Luray Zoo offers one of the largest venomous snake collections on the east coast, outside exhibits, as well as a petting zoo. During the summer the zoo offers daily educational shows that are included in admission price.
