“surrounded by beautiful mountainous terrain”
Through a special use permit from the USDA Forest Service, Arkansas State Parks is developing Mississippi River State Park, a 550 acre park within the St. Francis National Forest. The park visitor center is on Ark. 44 three miles southeast of Marianna at Bear Creek Lake. This information and education facility is staffed by both Arkansas State Parks and U.S. Forest Service employees to serve as information and interpretive center for the state park and the surrounding St. Francis National Forest. The discovery based and interactive exhibit gallery will connect you to the natural, cultural and historic resources of Mississippi River State Park and the St. Francis National Forest.

One of the most picturesque campgrounds I've stayed at. The site has been heavily managed to accommodate rvs etc, however it has been done well. It was a new experience camping on a hard standing.. the tent pegs will go in with a bit of persuasion. The 4 bathrooms were very warm and recycling bins are provided.
I saw my first live Armadillo here :-)
This park obviously has a nice budget--it is one of the nicest, cleanest parks we've camped. There are only three tent campsites & a few RV sites, but on a Tuesday in August, the park only had a few sites reserved. Each site has a fire pit & grill, lantern tree, picnic table, water facet, & gravel area for pitching the tent. There are two unisex bathrooms with private showers in each. The view as the sun sets is gorgeous, & overall this park is a great place to relax. We hope to visit again & hike a few of the trails in the St. Francis National Forest.
Just a charming campground. We stayed at site 11 (pull-thru) had plenty of room for a 30ft Grand Design Imagine and Ram 2500. Woke up in the morning to the sound of birds and the morning sun cascading off the lake waters. If you get a chance to go, you will not regret it. Stayed March 15, 2019
Do not use a Sedan to drive through - beautiful place but make sure to visit during or before fall or after spring
If you are lucky you may see Otters on the banks of the campground.
Beautiful peaceful campground. They have several campsites that have full RV hookups plus a picnic table and a spot for a tent on a private little peninsula that juts out onto the water. Brand new facilities too. A gem.
Great place. Very well maintained with RV hookups at each site.
