We enjoyed our stay at the Erie KOA Campground. The primitive campsite was wooded and comfortable, with a bath house nearby. The campground offered family-friendly activities, a laundry room, a well-equipped camp store, and a friendly staff.
Very nice campground! Nice pool and play area for kids. Verizon signal ranged from 2 bars LTE to 3G. The WiFi signal could be better. I know, I know - I’m camping and need to unplug. Well, it’s 2019 and would like to keep connected at night after kids are asleep and I’m laying in bed. About a 15-20 minute drive to the entrance of Presque Isle whether you take I-79 or stay on 832. Very friendly and engaged staff.

We stayed for one night as a stop over but look forward to going again.
As for the amenities the pool was a little small. For those with kids the inflatable bounce thing, two slides and some swings were very nice to have. There were other options for older kids than ours. There is a small lake where we saw people fishing and a paddle boat. It is close to the town of Erie. We took a 15 minute drive Avonia beach which was on the smaller side but very nice and easy to get to.
They sell propane, ice, and cold drinks along with other items in their general store.
The campground was very clean but the sites are on the smaller side. It was easy to get to power, water, sewer, and cable. The wifi was very slow but the cellular coverage was pretty good. My speed tests were 3Mbps/2Mbps on WiFi, ATT 56Mbps/17Mbps, VZW 65Mbps/4Mbps

This is your basic KOA with all the amenities you would expect. Sites can be a little tight and if you have a big rig I would give them advanced notice as all their sites cannot accommodate. We were able to get a pull through that was long enough for both our 40’ fifth wheel and truck so we didn’t have to unhook for an overnight.
The managers are new since 2020 and are working hard on improvements. We are doing several stops here this summer as it is a convenient stopover to our destination in NY and it is a good stop on the way back.
Their cancellation and refund policies differ from KOA National so if that might be an issue read the fine print.
We travel with our basset so having a dog park is a real help to get her off leash. The dog park has some muddy and soft areas and not large enough for the dog to get a good run, but it is ok sized.

This has got to be the worst KOA experience ever. The owner is in the wrong line of business with no understanding of customer service. Communication skills are limited to verbal assaults, threats and out right lying. Unfortunately corporate KOA is aware and correcting the experience is limited to saying they are sorry.

Arrived at 12 pm (check in is at 1) - office was closed until 1 pm. No problem. Park was practically empty with 5, maybe 6 trailers total on site. There was staff outside actively working on the surrounding area. My husband spoke with one of them, who said early check in was not an option. No problem, we’ll just wait until 1. Got our 2 toddlers out of the truck to stretch their legs and walked over to the playground. The owner drove over and told us there was no early check in. My husband said we were just going to wait and we’re letting the kids out of the truck. He was not happy. My husband asked if he wanted us to leave and the man just shrugged his shoulders. Complained that his wife was sick and he was going to have to run the office… So, you want us to leave for an hour when we could easily just pull our trailer forward into any of the open spaces you have available? Another RV had pulled up behind us and he told them to leave also. Loaded our kids back in the truck and went 7 miles down the road to Camp Eriez to some of the nicest people we’ve stayed with. Noticed the other RV that was told to leave also stayed at Camp Eriez. We have been full timing for 9 months and have stayed at MANY KOAs. We’ve never experienced anything like this before. Basically telling us to leave. I could understand if you had a park full, but this place was EMPTY. Reading the reviews on KOA, the new owners appear to be a problem with a lot of people. I wish I would have read the reviews prior to booking our stay, but I’ve never had any kind of issue like this. I was unable to leave a review on the KOA app, but they had no problem keeping my $72 deposit. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Reading the reviews of this KOA on here and Google I’m very suspicious of their motives… competition maybe? We are here for the eclipse and our experience has been excellent. Communication to set expectations about potential water issues (inspection and permitting stuff) for to opening early for the eclipse a weeks before we checked in were greatly appreciated. We got a very nice site in the back woods by the lake. Brand new/newly reworked sites. No cable TV in these sites but who cares, we are camping. Great over the air TV for local news/weather. When we checked in we got a nice little package with solar glasses and other goodies. Very thoughtful of the owners. We’ll be back if we come back to Erie.

Tried calling this KOA but they were closed between 12 and 4. We showed up around 330 to find slots with sites that were available. As we were looking at those a woman next-door in a mobile home came over to open up the KOA Office for us. She was the owner and her name was Beth. She was very polite and very helpful. Being very early in the season most of the sites were still very muddy. She put us on a pull through site with full hook ups that wasn’t as muddy as the back in sites. A few of the groundcrew that were there greeted us and talk wirh us and were very friendly. This campground looks like it would be a very fun place to be at once the season gets nicer. We would definitely come here again!
Nice place to stop. Clean and friendly with nice amenities for the family.
