“Modern Day Facilities and Remnants of Days gone By!”
With modern-day facilities amidst reminders of days gone by, Hamburg State Park offers a wonderful mix of history and outdoor recreation. A campground offers shaded sites along the edge of quiet Hamburg Lake fed by the Little Ogeechee River. Open seasonally, this self-registration campground provides hot showers, water and electric hookups, and a dump station. Anglers can enjoy fishing for largemouth bass, crappie and bream, as well as boat ramps and a fishing pier. Wildlife enthusiasts should look for turtles, alligators, raccoons, deer, birds and numerous other animals that live within the park. The restored 1921 water-powered gristmill is still operational and used to grind corn during events. The park’s museum is also open during events, displaying old agricultural tools and implements used in rural Georgia.

This place is a nice. We were there for one night as we were passing thru - on our way home- June 2018.
The sites are all unique- and spread around a large loop- with clean bathhouse, shower in the middle. Laundry is here too, new washer/ dryer- $1.50 for a load.
Nicely planed sites, many pull thru- all with electric- water. Dump station at end of loop.
The sun rises over the lake in the morning creating a beautiful sight..
You can rent canoes, paddle type boats, John boats and motors--- but you can't swim in lake- the alligators are young and hungry.
It is a place to go and avoid crowds.

This was a great time at the park. Be warned, the road to the park gets narrow in some areas on the way to the park. Got in when it was pouring down rain, but woke up to a beautiful sunrise in the morning. Most sites are right around the lake, but be careful is you have an issue of possibly dragging, there are a few places that you would most likely drag, I noticed this when biking around the campground to write down other sites in case this one isn't available for a future trip. I did have to knock on the neighbors door to ask them to move a vehicle because I couldn't pull up far enough to back in, but all is well, and they were super nice about it.The lake is smaller, but great views! They have fast Wi-Fi available at the office if you need it, but no cell service at all at the campsite, at least not for us. It was great to disconnect. Word to the wise, if you have a decent sized motorhome and tow a car, don't hook up your car until you finish at the dump station, it is a little tight, and required me to pull further then back up to get close enough for the hose to reach. Some great trails around the area as well. This is definitely on top of the list to come back to.

Love this park. Staff very friendly. When arriving at our pull through site it was blocked from a MH that broke down. I was able to back into our site with no problem. Site 20 offered a perfect view of the lake and a feeling of isolation because of the lake view. Did not have 50 amp service but did have two 30 amp sockets that by using the proper dog bone would provide the amount of power just as a 50 amp plug would. Boat rentals had not been resumed yet due to the virus but there are several nice hiking trails. I plan to return to this park as it is not very far from home.

Only stayed 1 night but this is a great campground on a small lake. Not busy this time of year so we had our choice of sites. 27 was a nice pull through slightly downhill but very flat and level at the site. Drive and site are gravel with picnic table and grill. Nice separation between the big sites with trees and grass around. Didn't use the bathhouse.
We would come here again.
Check out the rock eagle in Eatonton if you have time.

After staying here this has become my favorite campground. Our site was a large pull thru and had great views of the lake. This is a small campground and not crowded with sites too close together. Our son loved the playground that was across the road from our site. We rented a boat with a motor and it was affordable. There's no stores or restaurants around so make sure to bring all of your food and necessities with you. We will be coming back!

This is our 2nd visit, very pleased with the park and sites. Sites are flat gravel sites with nearby by water and power hookups. A number of sites are waterfront. Easy in and out.

Were here only one night on our way home on a cold October Sunday. Too pretty not to come back. Most of the sites are lakefront and are spacious and well separated. Good hiking trails from the campground and around the lake. The 100 year old Gristmill is open on Saturday afternoons.

Dialed in this gem of a state park en route from northeast Georgia to Savannah, given its being midpoint and en route, and also on reviews here that preceded this one. Could not have been more satisfied. Sites in this park are huge, generally lakeside and peaceful. A more aggressive design could have included 2-3x more sites! One large clean bath house with a laundry room. Easy in/out. Only one star ATT. Bring food so you don’t have to leave the peace and quiet of this magical place, but Walmart is <20 miles away. Easy and pretty lakeside hiking trail. See if you can get a tour of the old water-powered mill next to the small park office where they still have corn grinding demos on occasion. Another great Georgia park, but it’s remoteness makes it less crowded yet more peaceful. Outstanding stay.

Small quiet state park on small lake. Almost all sites are on the water. We had a backin site with a slight slope down to a level pad. Some of the pullthru sites shared same access off main campground road which could be awkward if neighboring sites are occupied when you arrive or leave.
Bathhouse appeared clean but we didn’t use it. A single set of washer/dryer was clean and affordable at $1.50 per use. Dump station was easy to access.
TV reception was N/A. Verizon & AT&T signal was poor and unreliable.
There was a nice easy nature trail near the park office. It was approx 5 mile round trip from our site but the trail itself is 3 miles.
It was a 25 min drive into Sandersville for groceries and gas/diesel.
We would stay again.
