“Oceanside's original town center”
Oceanside's original town center, Heritage Park Village and Museum features several historical buildings preserved on two-acres. The historic village includes the first General Store, a blacksmith shop and livery stables, a jail, the Portola Inn, Libby School and the Blade newspaper building. The town village has a large grassy area with a large shade tree and beautiful gazebo. Visiting the village will take you back to a more simple time. The historic site is located on a road which originally served as the old Spanish exploration trail, and later became a stagecoach and wagon route between San Diego and Los Angeles. Most of the historical preservation of heritage Park Village and Museum comes from "Friends of Heritage Park", a group of volunteers. “Friends of Heritage Park” accept donations of time, materials, artifacts and money.
