“Gardens and State Park”
The Atlantic Ocean and the Matanzas River provide the natural boundaries for the 425 acres of coastal scenery that comprise Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. Ocean waves have washed away the sand; exposing coquina rock and creating a picturesque boulder-strewn beach. At low tide; many shore birds feed and rest around the peaceful tidal pools. Visitors can enjoy picnicking; fishing and walking through the ornamental gardens and along the river.

Where to start and where to finish when describing Washington Oaks Gardens! Gorgeous park with wooden shelters to rest and picnic!
Paths lead you all around the beautiful vegetation and variety of plants! Ponds are all over the park! Butterflies hugging the flowers, children voices all over the park
As far as the beach is concerned...magnificent is not enough. Not the similar, crystal clear or blue color..but purple, pink, orange..totally a gem!
We walked it twice and sat on the big rocks while throwing stones to the water! Kids wanted to collect flowers for my wife but they didn't as we explained that its a shame to such precious beauties!
It is worth a visit!
The beach in this area is absolutely beautiful! It looks nothing like any of the beaches nearby. The sand has a reddish orange color that reminds me of Sedona and the rocks are amazing!
I’ve had nothing but good experiences every single time I’ve been there!
