Here at Pipestem Resort State Park they have it all! There is a nice campground with full hookup sites, electric only sites and primitive sites. You decide was level of comfort you desire and the price adjusts accordingly. There are two lodges with rooms for rent and several restaurants. There is an aerial tramway that will transport you to the lower lodge.
Outdoor activities include an 18 hole golf course, disc golf and miniature golf. They have fishing, paddleboat and canoe rentals, numerous hiking and biking trails, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center and sauna. There are basketball and tennis courts, horseback riding, sledding and cross country skiing.
These are all of course seasonal activities so call ahead to see what is being offered during your stay. We were here in mid-April so we were too late for the snow and too early for the water activities. The good news is the campground was less than half full and we had our choice of most sites. I imagine come Memorial Day Weekend this place is completely full!
We chose Campsite #7 in the full hookup section and thought that Site #39 in the electric only section would have been just as nice. If primitive camping is what you desire we feel Campsite #68 is the best. All three were long back in sites with no one behind or to the awning side on either site.
We visited this campground from 04/11/19 until 04/15/19.

Pipestem is truly a 'resort' state park. 18 hole regulation golf course, 9 hole par 3 course (most holes 200 yds plus!), zip lines, horseback riding, splash pool, two lodges. Beautiful setting in the mountains of WV. Tram ride was fun from the canyon rim down to the Bluestone River and a lodge there.
We were in site 22, a shorter pull through limited to about 30' I would guess. This is an older section with full hookups. Be aware that the electric post is on the wrong side (awning side) in several of these sites, so you need to have enough cord to reach under your rig. That is the only negative to this campground. Full hookup with plenty of water pressure. No wifi, but Verizon was usable at two bars. This part of the campground is fully wooded.
There is a newer section (highest site numbers) that are water and electric that surround a nice lawn. Campground has everything you would need (wood, ice, etc.) The town of Hinton has grocery stores about 20 minutes north.

Tried to stay here in a 25’ motorhome. I had selected site 67 online. It was horrible - I was unable to level my rig. The staff was great - but they had only one other site, #38, which was worse than my original. I ended up leaving and going elsewhere. Camper beware! Many of the sites here are not level.

I stayed here 3 nights and worked each day from my truck camper. I drove the campground and found this site to have the best signal for both AT&T and Verizon. Facilities were a little dated and the dump station was closed (not sure why) but it was mid October.
If you book online beware of the season. I booked a site and bought a tram ticket only to find that the tram wasn't running that day (they let me use it the next day but wasn't really in my plans)

Lovely campground. Some sites a bit unlevel, but our site was fine. We had both water & electric. A lot of the amenities were closed due to updating. But, we came for the nature. Enjoyed New River Gorge NP! Princeton is a nice, nearby town; recommend "Dolly's", old school dinner, excellent food & service! One big campground fail, dump station closed. We did find a free dump on I77 North, "Bluestone Travel Plaza", just North of Athens. Another option the other direction is "Bluestone State Park", DNR told us we could dump there for free also. Both ATT & Verizon had about 1bar LTE, but worked.

The check in process was a breeze. Sites are spaced out well. Each site had their own garbage can attached to the site number stake, and the campground staff collected the garbage which was a nice convenience. Also they deliver ice and wood as needed!
One downfall was that their dump station was down, which we did have prior notification before arriving to the campground.
Luckily we were able to switch to a full hookup site for the last night which was a huge help.
This park is loaded with beautiful deer, gorgeous fall foliage this time of year, great hikes, and an aerial tram which we highly recommend!

We normally prefer to boondock on federal lands, but we were meeting others here for a few days. That said, this campground is a bit dated. Nice enough and friendly, but with the size of the “Resort” there is plenty of room to make less crowded sites we think. Sites are small, paved, and not level - but not too difficult to get close enough to being on the bubble. Decent 5G on ATT with the WeBoost.

We did two hikes. The trails were marked fairly well but not very used. Lots of fallen trees and large branches to climb over and around. Made for a more intense and adventurous hike than we’re used to. We loved that our dog could cruise around off-leash.
Love staying in the rustic cabins! Great food at the lodge and a wonderful golf course! Great hiking and waterfalls in the area, as well!
