“The history of South Dakotan aviation”
The South Dakota Air and Space Museum, part of the museum system of the National Museum of the US Air Force, is located in Box Elder, South Dakota, just outside the main gate of Ellsworth AFB. The South Dakota Air and Space Museum serves to educate and entertain the public. Not only does it give information about the history of US Air Force aviation, it promotes South Dakota aviation history. During the summer months, visitors can take a base bus tour for a nominal fee. This includes touring a Minuteman missile Training Launch Facility as well as seeing a number of sites on the base.

This a nice off beat museum! The exhibits are throughly intriguing the outdoor aircraft are interesting walk around. Nice place to stretch your legs and walk around.
This is a great place to hop out of the car and stretch your legs. Tons of photo ops for kids that like airplanes as there are many on display as you walk in. Well done museum exhibits focusing on military hardware. Get up close and personal to a thermonuclear bomb..amazing on how something so small can cause so much destruction. A great stop for anyone interested in Cold War history
A fun stop if you are into planes! A great display outside and a good museum inside. It is small and you can do all of it in 90 minutes or less!
We had a great time and a great tour guide Daniel E. History rich experience and as we were leaving the B1 flew over us. Couldn't have timed it any better! Feeling very blessed to have family serving in the military. Thank you! Karen M.
We had fun stretching our legs and looking at the aircraft. The inside wasn’t open, although the sign seemed like it should be.
