This beautiful gem is well worth a visit. I'm very sad that we were only able to stay here for one night as we were only passing through. The sound of the river flowing behind our campsite and the full moon shining over the mountain was the highlight of my vacation. I will definitely be planning a trip back up here just so that I can stay longer and enjoy this wonderful piece of heaven.
Nicely laid out campground with lots of amenities and very accommodating staff. Restrooms and showers are very clean with a rustic feel. Right on the South Fork of the Rio Grande. Beautiful setting, Only Problem was a lot of road noise.

We sought out this location because a scene of National Lampoons Vacation was filmed here “This is your tent Edna!”. We only had time for an overnight, but we loved it here and definitely plan to return to explore the area and relax at the resort. We camped at a Riverview back in site in a 24 ft popup trailer. Playground, bathroom, hot tub, and showers were open and clean. We didn’t have time to look into the clubhouse. Each site seemed to have a fire pit and picnic table. We chose a Riverview site and the view in the morning did not disappoint. We very much enjoyed posing with the “ring for service” bell and the shell of one of the tents from the movie. Gift shop well stocked and had ice for sale at a reasonable price. All the staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming from every single interaction from the very first phone call.
Other notables/ potential cons: it’s pretty close to the highway which was convenient, but we did hear it. There is a cat named Jack who lives on site and he’s very friendly. We like cats but he did try to get in our car and camper so that would be a negative if you don’t like cats. There was some cat poop at the playground and other poop (maybe cat, maybe something else) by the river). Otherwise meticulously maintained. The bathroom is behind the office and the walkway is very dark at night and hard to find. Bring a lantern.

The location is beautiful with great river access for fishing. Great tent-only spots right by the river. We were placed in Site 9 that was on a parking lot aisle with no living space. We stepped out of the rig directly into a road, so no space for awning, chairs, etc.
Site WiFi connected to the park router just fine, but almost always returned the error: no internet access. AT&T showed 2 bars LTE, but there was no data access. No masks or social distancing from the staff. Amenities all open, including little hot tub. We left a day early.

Enjoyed our spot right by the river. Slept great! It was so nice and relaxing to listen to the river flowing. Very peaceful. There is a port a potty close to the tent sites and full clean bathrooms/showers & laundry right behind the main office. A little further walk but nice to have access to. The tent sites are below the row of RV/camper sites so you are down the hill from them and the highway. Loved the bonus of finding out that this place was in the 1983 Vacation movie with Chevy Chase. Staff was very nice and helpful. We did have a moose wake us up in the middle of the night but he was on the other side of the river and ran up the hill once we spotted him. Pretty cool to see.

We booked here and were unable to stay the whole length because their campground wifi was inaccessible. We work on the road and could not connect to the wifi from our RV spot (#51). We also have AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon and were unable to get data from all those devices. We brought this up to the office's attention to see if 1) they had any resolution and 2) if we could leave early because of this. When we talked to the front desk, they brought up this was a known issue with our spot and suggested we drive down to the Dollar General or the local public library to use the wifi there. This was laughable; we need a table to work at and travel with our pets. It's not workable to leave our RV and work from the sidewalk of Dollar General. We offered to pay for the days we stayed plus one extra. We waited two days to hear back from the owners of the park about this arrangement. After many follow-up calls, we received an email denying us a partial refund. (I was aware of their policy about no refunds once your stay is booked, but I only agreed to this based on being able to use the park's wifi, which is advertised on all of their booking information). Many other RV parks will be clear and transparent about their WIFI, if it works or if it's spotty; some will even tell you if certain spots don't receive wifi signal. We never would have booked if we knew we couldn't get wifi. After talking with the front desk and a few other staff in the park, it's clear that this is a known issue. The park owners should think about dedicating resources to fix their wifi issue and being honest with potential guests that their wifi potentially won't work; they're pretty much using false advertising. On a side note, the river is pretty, but there is so much road noise that the perk of the view is moot.

Everything about this place was very cute and campy. All the log cabins give it a real old school feel. We had no idea it was a filming location for Vacation but that totally makes sense after seeing the place.
We stopped here on our way to Durango and it was a great resting spot right before taking on the Wolf Creek Pass. There is a little bit of road noise from 160, but the beautiful mountain views make up for that.
The internal spots are very tight. Some of the outer sites seemed to have more room AND had great views and sounds of the river. Unfortunately it seemed like most of the outer sites were taken by long term residents.
It was a really nice campground to walk around. The meadow along the river was a great place to let your dog off leash.
The wifi was not useable from where we were parked and the cell service was very poor in this area too.
Everything was very neat and clean, including the restrooms, showers and laundry room.

This place is all about location. If you like to hunt fish hike and OHV. You can not ask for a better spot. Owners are great and the seasonal people are very friendly. The grounds are maintained and the public facilities are clean. My only complaints are that the sites are to close together and that the road noise is loud. Also the the sites need to have new small gravel on them. The gravel is way to large and when setting down the rugs or chairs the stones make it very hard to level out. If you can get the river view sites. These give you grass at the rear of the back in and give you a little space. Another negative is the town of south fork is really a cross road with very view amenities . You have to drive 15- 30 miles in either direction to any type of major shopping.
