“Smith's legacy will have a new home at the Texas Truck Yard's newest location at The Colony, just north of Dallas.”
Formerly a master plumber, Smith kick-started his compilation after a successful few weeks hunting deer. His father put the antlers of a deer he had shot onto a plaque made of wood and Smith put his on a toilet seat. In his years collecting since then, Smith has garnered national attention — and international toilet seats. Some feature pieces of the Berlin Wall, barbed wire from Auschwitz, Suddam Hussein's toilet and NASA's space shuttle Challenger. A recent addition was sent and signed by Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich. Many of the lids are artistic inventions of Smith.

Great fun, worth the quick stop to meet Barney and see the collection! Be aware that some of the collection is boxed up now, as it is being sold and moving to Dallas in late February 2019. Be patient on the phone; viewing times are limited because Barney is 97 years old and meets every guest personally!
This is a room at the Truck Yard. This is such a cool place! Food trucks change daily. Many outdoor oversize games. Live music. Several bars. Great art. Definitely a place to spend a few hours. April 2021
Wish I could have seen it! Barney is now 97 years old and recovering from an injury. He mostly opens up the museum in the afternoon around 1pm to 3pm. We were in San Antonio in the early morning so we couldn't stay that late in order to stop by. Definitely call ahead. Also he is putting his museum up for sale for anyone interested.
Probably the weirdest museum that you can visit however you will be surprise to hear that every toilet seat here has a story to tell. And the 92 year old, I mean the young curator behind this amazing museum is just amazing. He has lots of stories to tell and very energetic! He started the making this creative toilet seats since he was young and up until now his works still continues. This is a MUST visit if you happen to stop by San Antonio.
Barney is the man! If you are going to visit his amazing collection make sure you call ahead so he knows that you're coming, and be ready because he sure likes to talk!
This takes potty humor to another level.
Loved this memorial museum!
We were confused when we got there because there were not any signs directing us to the museum. It is located upstairs from a restaurant/bar in a place called The Truck Yard. The Truck Yard looked really cool, but we didn’t spend time there due to Covid.
It has moved to the Colony Truck Yard in remembrance of the Late Barney Smith. Go check it out.
It’s permanently closed and sadly, Mr. Smith passed away yesterday. I was reading that someone from Dallas bought the collection, so it may have moved there.
This is really a great place to visit. At 95 years Old, Barney Smith is still telling lots of interesting stories :-)
