“free camping!”
First three days and two nights are Free, $5 per day after free days and nights. Electric hook–ups are available on six large sites and water from a shared source. A free dump station is nearby. The pads are gravel, dirt and grass. If you are a music lover there is a wonderful local museum of some most unusual instruments.

This small park is operated by the Lions Club. Park is clean. Sites are 30amp electric only. First three nights are free and then $5. Sites are all back in.
Good stop. Grocery across the street. The National Music Museum on the Univ of SD campus. Didn't get a chance to stop by as it was closed at the time we came through.
Rt 50 is a great way to get across SD if you want to stay off of the interstate.

Stayed here a little over a week visiting and caring for family in Vermillion. The restrooms were clean and functional. Site was electric only, but had water and a convenient dump close by. All grass pad, but pretty level and well kept. Lots of families with kids in the playground and tent sites.
First 2 nights were free, then $5/night for the next 6 nights. Great value and definitely a great stop over for a night while traveling. The city rec dept. was friendly and great. It was a little noisy as it was right on the main highway going through town.

Made the mistake of putting off our domicile visit to SD until November when it's freezing here, but free electricity and space heaters made it tolerable. The park is pretty nice, although it's pretty desolate and unmaintained in the winter with some trash here and there. There are some homeless folks living here now and it seems like the city probably does not patrol or enforce the stay limits during the off-season. Bathrooms and water spigots are shut down for the winter but the dump station and dumpster is still available.
The sign says you can stay for 3 days for free, after which you need permission to stay any longer with a $5/day donation, there is an iron ranger for donations, and no number posted to call for permission.
There are 7 RV sites with 30A electric posts and several firepits distributed around the rest of the property that are presumably okay for tent camping.
Verizon LTE speeds are excellent (50Mbps down, 10Mbps up).
There is a Walmart, HyVee grocery store, Tractor Supply, O'Reily Auto, and some other businesses directly across the street, as well as a few gas stations, UPS store, local print shop, and Driver's License exam office right down the road. The DL office is only open a couple days a week so you may want to plan your trip accordingly.

Next to Barstow Park and the middle school, Lions Park is a nice, quiet, well- maintained campsite. There are 6 sites with electric hook ups. There are a few water spigots dispersed throughout so you can fill up your water tank. There are bathrooms and showers. A free dump station and dumpster for your cleaning needs :)
There are also a number of sites without power for tent camping. The park is across the street from a grocery store and there are a number of gas stations and restaurants in town. Even a WalMart!
When it rains, the sites can get a little muddy because of the heavy vehicles pulling in... just something to be aware of.

Vermillion is a college town, and there are great sidewalks so you can WALK to the grocery store, or Dairy Queen, or other businesses along the highway. The spaces were very uneven and muddy due to so much recent rain, but the grass was mowed and the bathrooms were clean. City employees came by checking on things a couple of times each day and put a notice under my windshield wiper with rules and stay limit. Traffic noise was minimal after dark. Easy back-in sites. Nice big shade trees.

Electrical pedestals in need of repair. Not one of the sites are level. If it rains be prepared for large puddles and mud. Trees in a couple sites not trimmed to RV height. When I was here the restrooms and showers were not clean. Thankful for the dump facilities.

Came to Vermillion to visit family. It's a small, college town. Quaint yet has all the stores you might need. Lion's Park had all that we needed. Free electricity, water available (not for hook up), a dump station, restrooms on one side of the brick building and two rooms with individual showers on the other side. Clean, new shower curtains, hooks for clothing, a chair to keep other items up off the floor, and a shower seat which I used to hold toiletries. Last night we were the only ones here yet felt very safe! M.inimal amount of road noise from the street that runs alongside of the park

Nice clean, tidy camping area, with water and electricity. Still free. Facilities shut during lockdown. Can recommend it to anyone. Quiet, despite highway close by. Grocery and others stores near. In talking to someone at Parks and Rec, he said they were beginning a complete makeover and upgrade, but it's now on hold -- probably for a couple of years. But down the road should check with city to see if still free. Musical museum closed for revamp. Nice little college town. May 2020.

We stayed here 1 night to catch up on sleep during a long road trip. It was easy to find and access off of the main road, even late at night. I felt safe and it was quiet. There were 2 others there (in October).
We parked in the spot closest to the street and hooked up to electricity. There’s also a children’s playground and some grass to play on, although we didn’t do so.
