“one of America's most celebrated intimate hotels”
In 1939, Mrs. Florida Lasier of Chicago snagged her silk stockings on a wild blackberry bramble while exploring the idyllic Smoky Mountain foothills, and the name Blackberry Farm was born. Thirty-six years later, the Beall family invested their hearts and souls in the same romantic site that has become their family home and lifelong passion. Today, one of America's most celebrated intimate luxury hotels beckons discerning guests who aspire to escape modern-day frenzy and slip into a Blackberry state of mind. Situated on a pastoral 4,200-acre estate in the Great Smoky Mountains, Blackberry will show you the many reasons why it is one of the top rated properties in the world. Blackberry Farm’s renowned cuisine is definitely rooted in what comes from our farm as well as the region. Often described as Foothills Cuisine, it wanders the line between refined and rugged, borrowing from both haute cuisine and the foods indigenous to Blackberry’s Smoky Mountain heritage. Guests have the delightful adventure of fulfilling their gourmet desires in two warmly inviting and wondrously inventive restaurants. While owner Sam Beall, a chef by training, insists he will never be the chef at Blackberry Farm, championing the culinary arts is what he loves most and has done all of his life. He understands establishing culinary that is renown requires more than a particular specialty or one person’s touch. It is a rare collection of artisans — the chef, the master gardener, the baker, the cheese maker, the forger, the butcher, the jam lady, the chocolatier, the restaurant manager, the sommelier — who blend their unique talents to create what our guests know as Blackberry Farm.
Reviews
Beautiful rooms. Great spa. Breathtaking Smoky Mountain scenery. Fantastic food. The only farm in the United States that has Italian truffle dogs sniffing out the truffles growing under oak trees. Avoid going in July, which is family month. The South's best artisanal bacon purveyor, Alan Benton, is just down the road. http://fathomaway.com/postcards/romance/most-romantic-hotels-us-south/
