“The Niagara of the South”
Cumberland Falls, sometimes called the Little Niagara, the Niagara of the South, or the Great Falls, is a large waterfall on the Cumberland River in southeastern Kentucky. Spanning the river at the border of McCreary and Whitley counties, the waterfall is the central feature of Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. On average the falls, which flow over a resistant sandstone bed, are 68 feet (21 m) high and 125 feet (38 m) wide, with an average water flow of 3,600 cubic feet per second (100 m³/s). Under a full moon on clear nights, an elusive lunar rainbow or moonbow is sometimes formed by the mist emanating from the falls. The Moonbow that appears here may be observed under a full moon and a clear sky. An arch of white light is usually produced at base of Falls and continues downstream. Generations of people have visited here to see this natural phenomenon. The last hotel on this site, Moonbow Inn, was named for the moonbow.

Awesome waterfall and some great hiking trails around. A must see!
Very pretty falls. A bit crowded on a weekend-as most tourist places.
Great place to stop on a road trip. Beautiful falls and nice trails.
Very beautiful view. There are a gift shop, snack stand, and restrooms. There are several places you can stop for photos along the falls: at the top of the falls, midway down, and closer to the base of the falls and river. Lots of parking and picnic benches for lunch as well. You could easily spend the entire day here.
Very beautiful! Park is nice. Found it by accident. Stop to take a picture of the bridge and realized we were at the falls! Wished we had more time to take in a hike.
Nice park, nice trails, easy to see the falls from many vantage points. If visiting this part of KY, good stopping point.
Beautiful waterfall the photo doesn't do justice! Variety of trails too.
Beautiful place to check out.
